schthaxe Might be considered as the best continuation for the 80th King Crimson. Favorite track: Queen Of The Hi-Ace.

fellwix A beautifully dark album that somehow manages to be surreal, unnerving and hilarious at the same time. Truly unique! Favorite track: It's All Gone Weird.

quantumj4k This comment is not just for this record, but all of the band's work. How to describe the sound? Gang of Four with a touch of black metal menace and mystery? Post-punk that is simultaneously groovy and creepy? There is no band currently who sounds quite the same.

Nathan_is_happening This stuff is just creepy. Not quite metal, but not quite anything else. Vocals are damn scary. Music is groovy - yet scary also. Basically, this is the soundtrack that The Shining might have had. It makes me feel uncomfortable, yet I can't turn away from it. Favorite track: Gum Meet Mother.

Bardo Morales Fuck! Just one the best bands ever. And that's all I have to say.

about

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of (sadly defunct) Norwegian avantgarde rock maestros VIRUS' debut album Carheart, and in the fall a special limited anniversary edition on vinyl LP and cassette will be issued via drummer Einz' label Duplicate Records.

Both critically acclaimed and a fan favourite, Carheart has stood the test of time and remains as innovative, quirky and original as ever, 20 years after it first came out via Jester Records (the eclectic label of Garm/ULVER).

The anniversary edition will include the original CD artwork of trine&kim, on vinyl for the first time ever, and there will be three different vinyl options. Coinciding with the anniversary edition of Carheart, Duplicate will also issue the band's infamous 2000 demo on vinyl for the first time ever, including a bonus track (also a first ever on vinyl).

A line of Merchandise featuring Carheart artwork will also be available, separately, and in a special limited bundle containing both Carheart and Demo 2000 on LP and cassette.

VIRUS was started in 2000 by Czral, Einz & Plenum, and have to date released 4 full-length albums, an EP and a compilation, several of them via drummer Einz' label Duplicate Records. In 2018, the band was put on indefinite hiatus.
The outlandish threesome's debut, Carheart remains a fan favourite with its unheard of mixture of Czral's trademark dissonant riffs and alien vocals, Plenum's rollercoaster-gone-bad bass excursions and Einz' infectious grooves. All seasoned with a healthy dose of Monty Python'esque imagery and absurd darkness.

"...with their debut, Virus set a whole new musical car-heart into function, strong enough to simultaneously incorporate influences from the avant-garde spectrum of extreme metal and rock and to live up to the most demanding expectations from today’s avant-garde rock/metal scene." - sputnikmusic.com
